London Calling

Nice to see my nephew and his girlfriend today when they called in on their way to a weeks holiday in the Lake District.
Living in London, their experience of lockdown sounded quite different to ours. They were surprised to hear about the crowds we had up here back in March and April, as Central London was pretty well deserted.
Fortunately, they booked their accommodation just before the quarantine was announced for travellers returning from Spain, as prices shot up after that.
I suspect they might be surprised by just how busy the Lakes can be over a Bank Holiday weekend (especially one where everyone is holidaying in the U.K.) but I have lent them a selection of maps and guide books so they can hopefully find some great walks away from the crowds.
Let’s hope they are blessed with better weather than normal Lake District bank holiday conditions!
