Platypus hiding

Near Fitzroy Falls there is a gently running stream and a placid pool that looks like a perfect home for platypus (see the extra). You would have to be there before dawn or after dusk to catch a glimpse of these shy little creatures.
 
So the best I can offer is this charming, aging sign put up by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. I wonder if it’s aging because the platypus have moved on. I hope not.

More likely, it’s because the NPWS has suffered repeated budget cuts and can't afford the maintenance. Anyway, I hope the platypus are happy.
