Life In Wales

Beachy Head

We're currently preparing to quarantine on our return from holiday - it's not imposed yet, but it's only sensible to plan, just in case.  So this morning we took Bertie to Kwik Fit in Newhaven have his MOT done as this was due the day after we return from Portugal.  They said it would take about 45 mins to an hour, so we went for a walk and found a cafe at the harbour and watched the Ferry arriving from Dieppe while we sat and had a bacon roll.  We got back to the garage just as they'd finished, and he'd sailed through the MOT, no problems at all, not even any advisories.

We then drove to Beachy Head and had a walk along the cliffs, and were treated to a fly past by a Spit Fire (see my extras).  I'm just sorry that by the time we saw it, we'd got back to the car as they flew lower than the height of the cliffs and circled the lighthouse - that would have been a phenomenal shot!  On our way back we stopped at Birling Gap - I've added some extras of the Coastguard Cottages, there used to be 8 cottages but due to the erosion of the cliffs, there's no only 4!  If you're interested you can read about the history here and you'll be able to see how much the cliff has eroded.

We were home by 1.30pm before everywhere got busy, which was nice, Alan watched the F1 qualifying, and I booked an online food delivery for when we return from holiday, with enough stuff to last 14 days. Then I went in the hot tub which was followed by a relaxing evening at home with fajitas for dinner.
