Wildlife encounters

Last night while sitting round the campfire, there was a thud on the road outside our site, and an animal screeching. 3 of the men in the group ran out to see if they could help; the car had stopped, and the muntjac that had dashed out in front of him, ran off, straight through our camp and out the back onto the golf course. It was limping, but running very quickly. The men said the car wasn't damaged, but there was a bloody smear on it's wing.

We had a good night and noone reported being cold in our various tents. Took the morning slowly, Jon and I cooked a full english breakfast for the 12 of us that had camped, which was very nice. Then we gradually began to break camp, with coffee breaks. Once our fellow campers had left for home and we had packed up, we drove back home with the small trailer and Karen and Neil came with us to experience the 'French Quarter' and to have a cup of tea before heading back to Cambridge.

Jon and I then went back to collect the caravan and return it to East Runton. When we got home Dan and Henry were both there. Today is Daniel's 25th birthday. It doesn't seem possible! He spent yesterday evening barbecuing on the beach in Cromer with mates, then rolled back up to his flat.

Mollie cooked dinner while Jon and I took a walk to the allotment in the early evening sunshine. It was much warmer than it has been over the weekend.

Deer have eaten all the flowers off my pansies, and something (blackbirds?) had dug out at least 6 plants and they were laying unhappily on the gravel.

All feeling quite subdued. It's been nice but tiring. Work tomorrow.
