Windy and Smoky

Admittedly this is a bit of an emergency (well, not a bit, it really is). I had my hair cut this afternoon, followed by a massage (what an absolute joy!) and by the time I got home it was well past 6:00 pm. We've known for a couple of days that we were going to have high winds tonight through midday tomorrow, but what we didn't know was how much smoke is being pulled into western Oregon from the many wildfires burning in central Oregon. It's all rather apocalyptic...the wind is whipping  with gusts to 55 mph and the sky is gray and very smoky. It's difficult to breath outside and there's ash in the air.

We won't be sitting outside eating a leisurely early September supper tonight!

So there was no wander in the garden, but a mission to try to capture some of the quality of the evening. So you won't get a sense of the chaos, but it might give you a bit of a sense. Not a quiet night ahead. Hopefully we won't lose power...if we do, the a/c goes off (oh did I mention that it's 91F/33C?) the house will be hot and smoky inside.

But the most awful thing of all is that these winds are whipping up the wildfires. I am sending all my thoughts to the firefighters who are trying to battle these fires.
