Pied Wagtail #71

Despite the drizzly weather, we popped over to Buttermere anyway in the hope that it would clear up, and it did for a while. We managed to while away a couple of hours, didn’t get too wet and saw a few birds as well. There were some pied and grey wagtails about, plenty of tits, blackbirds and robins and we also saw a Sparrowhawk chasing a blackbird through the hedges. The blackbird escaped.
We decided to head north and went up the coast towards Silloth and Bowness-on-Solway to check out if there were any waders about. The tide wasn’t fully in yet and we struggled to identify some of them and the weather was getting worse, so eventually we came home. I know we saw oystercatchers and Curlew, but that’s about it for today.
Tomorrow we are going to Leighton Moss on our way to Askrigg (I know it’s not really on the way...but it’s either Wednesday or Friday and the weather looks better tomorrow).
