Open As Usual

Open as usual, but I wonder whether their business has suffered at all in view of the recent fuss in the UK about horsemeat being sold as beef. To be fair to the big M, I have seen no suggestion that McDonald's beefburgers contain horsemeat, but given the withdrawal of so many supermarket meat products in recent days, some customers could be concerned.

I do not consider horse meat to be any less acceptable than other meats, but people certainly have the right to know what they're eating and to be able to choose what they eat. The lack of knowledge and control of the content of meat products must give rise to a concern that we lack knowledge and control of the quality of the meat, the animal husbandry, the butchery, storage and transportation. True, no concerns have been raised so far about any threats to human health from these food products, but the lack of control over the supply chain could allow such threats to develop without our knowledge.

Missymoo's challenge for today was to "photograph where you had lunch". Well, I didn't have lunch at McDonalds (it's not a place that I frequent) but, no doubt, a lot of people did - in spite of the horsemeat affair.
