A Change in the Weather

It’s that time of year.

Swallow and House Martin families (both seen here) were chattering away around this weathervane. There is excitement in the air. It will not be long before they leave and head south,

We know a lot more about bird migration than we used to. 200 years ago people believed that swallows hibernated at the bottom of ponds, Now birds can be tracked carrying little harnesses connecting with satellites. But there remains something magical about bird migration, The distances birds cover across continents, seas and oceans in all sorts of weather conditions are astonishing.
