Ailsa Craig

After joining our Zoomed Sunday service and an early lunch we set out for somewhere Mr Flum had discovered as a place of interest, called Chicken Nest, where we expected to find coffee and cake. After much driving along unlikely tracks twice, passing the Turnberry hotel and Trump's clubhouse twice we eventually found it by driving down a disused airfield. And it was shut. But we did discover a tiny settlement called Shanter...as in Tam O'Shanter. We're in Burns country, remember.
So we went to Girvan for a walk on the beach, with a hazy view of Ailsa Craig. The sky was blue, warm sunshine and a wind to blow the cobwebs away.
On the way back we popped in on Dunure Beach for a wander and ice cream before returning to base. The sky is so clear there are planets Jupiter and Mars gleaming and billions of stars twinkling, such a contrast to our light-polluted urban home.
