A Rose By Any Other Name

Our Confederate Rose (aka Dixie rose mallow, cotton rose or cotton rose mallow) plant is blooming. A native of SE China, the Confederate Rose isn't a rose at all, it's a mallow and in the same family as Hibiscus. It can be found growing an all continents except Antarctica. I find this plant interesting because it's flowers change color during the course of the day. They are an almost white in the morning, turning pink around mid-day and then more red in the evening. This photo was taken at around 11:00 am EST.
