Sand City

We picked up a hire car this morning for a couple of days, and headed over to Sand City which is about 30 minutes drive away in Lagoa.  The theme of the exhibition is 'Around the World in 80 Days' and there are the most amazing sand sculptures representing different countries.  I think this London scene with the Queen and Big Ben is so realistic and I've added a close up of the Queen in my extras, together with one of the Pope which is fun!

From here we drove to Benagil where the amazing cave is that I blipped the other day. You can walk on top of the cliffs and look down into the cave, so I wanted to see it from above and also to show Alan.  It's obviously a very popular place, as the car park was almost full and cars were parked along the sides of the roads, but we found a space and walked to the cliffs.  The hole in the roof is fenced off so you can't get too close, but you can just about see the beach below - one girl climbed over the fence though so she could get closer!!  We then walked along the tops of the cliffs and were going to go down to the little fishing village and beach, but it was so busy we decided not to bother.

Our last port of call was the marina at Albufeira, again it was somewhere I wanted to show Alan as it's really colourful and has lots of nice cafes and bars.  We had a stroll around looking at the colourful buildings and boats, then sat at one the bars by the side of the water to have a drink before heading back to the hotel for the evening.
