Under the bridge

After yesterday's rather gloomy walk through town, I perked up again today. The afternoon's been sunny and I went sculpture-spotting in Kelham Island, an area by the River Don where gentrification and small-scale industry currently co-exist. So there are functioning workshops and garages alongside former factories  that have had the loft-living treatment. There are fancy pizza outlets, artisan bakers and old-style greasy spoon cafes, cheek by jowl. Some places have not survived the Covid onslaught, but many do seem to have done, at least for now.
Sheffield has joined the 'watch list' of places that show a worrying rise in numbers, so we may face renewed restrictions soon. As ever, the national news reports a stream of mix-ups and messes, with the failure of the English 'test and trace' system topping the bill. I won't say 'NHS test and trace', because this system has nothing to do with the National Health Service, and everything to do with the private sector.
There's a sample of current Kelham Island public art available in Extras: another ceramic piece, very different from yesterday in style, though the theme is similar.
And an entry for Abstract Thursday. Quiet flows the Don indeed.
