Bollard!

This one of four rising bollards, two at either end, on a small lane in the village.  They were installed by the owner of the lane to prevent parking in the lane, but the owners of the house at the other end of said lane were having none of it and continued to park their cars where they had for several years.  In fact they're taking the erector of the bollards to court, having already won one case on the issue.

So I reckon this was a very expensive demonstration of ownership, but I must admit to sympathising with them: car parking is a very disruptive subject in this village, and I don't think that you should buy a house without car parking then insist on using someone else's land.

But I suspect that this will not be resolved particularly quickly . . .
