A Small Gathering of Friends

This is the last day of our socially distanced beach vacation on Estero Island, still practicing all the necessary precautions but looking out over a much different view with the sound of surf in my ears. In these new strange times of pandemic, I envy these gulls - deeply missing the chance to be physically present with friends and family.

* the extra is where I intend to spend most of the rest of the day, book in hand, watching folks walk the beach, fishing boats head out to deeper water and, right now, a tug push a construction barge down to where they're working on the pipeline (extra #2).
