The Finished Deck

The finished deck and Börje, the proud builder. I had the role of apprentice, labourer, and general dogsbody.
Today it was mainly the tricky bits, such as the edges, so Börje worked alone. I was out there anyway, dealing with the large fir we felled a few days ago, continuing with de-nailing the remains of the old veranda and deciding how to to reuse that wood, and doing some general gardening.
Today was the first day in several months that I worked outside until it was too dark to work any more. Those nights are drawing in!
Tomorrow is the equinox and after that our days rapidly shorten. Being forced to stop outside work by darkness will happen more and more.
This is rather a good angle to show our property. The main house, the one we live in, is on the right. The Red House, mainly for visitors to stay in, is in the middle of the picture, furthest away. Betty's (named after the first owner) is on the left. It's Jan's work space and now has a new veranda, and hopefully a new window by the end of the week.
