The sky's the limit!

A good day today. I went down to Kilmory Castle at Lochgilphead, the HQ of Argyll & Bute Council. The sky has been spectacular all day and I stopped a number of times to take photographs, one of which is my Blip today.

I was asked down there last March to give some advice on the plants in part of the Walled Garden as it's going to be used as an outdoor nursery for children aged 3-5. They wanted to make sure that there was nothing really evil growing there and also to get some ideas about plants that could have interesting stories for young children. Sounds like a fun development! The date has been changed many times since then as the contractors working there kept refusing admission saying it was a building site. They were dead right there!

There's been a house on the site for a long time, but the current building, which is shown as an extra, dates mostly from the early 19th century. The garden contains many wonderful plants including some spectacular rhododendrons, but hasn't been looked after for a long time - not in the way it should be looked after anyway. The usual way that the council looks after gardens, I suppose. The contractors are making it worse with their heavy machinery, churning up paths and beds.

After yesterday's mention of Keep Oban Beautiful I quickly knocked up a limerick which is my -

Limerick of the Day:

Argyll council were told once or twice,
That the litter in town was not nice.
But Keep Oban Beautiful
Were impressively dutiful
And cleared the place up in a trice!
