Stuff and Nonsense

Blore Hall

It’s been a very wet day with almost constant showers with little breaks in between. As we are not really ones for walking in the rain we waited until it looked brightest before heading out after lunch.
We walked around the outside of the site again and visited St Bartholemew’s, the church across the road. When we came out our intention was to walk down the lane to Blore pasture to see what it was all about but the heavens opened and we opted to go back to our cottage - a good decision as there was very little let up for the rest of the day.
So, my blip today is the outside of the old medieval hall from the path. I don’t know what the colourful plant is either side but thought it framed it quite nicely.
The medieval hall is now known as Blore Hall, and it’s first recorded ‘owner’ was Edic, a follower of King William I. His descendants remained here until 1357. It was bought by the Holiday Property Bond in 1997 and was fully restored and developed to offer 20 cottages/apartments together with a clubhouse, games room, swimming pool, sauna and tennis court. It’s a lovely little site and I am sure will be one we will return to as well in the future.
