Dressed for Breakfast

We went to Trail House on our way to pick up our mail at the post office this morning and these two little girls, fashionably dressed in the latest Covidwear caught my eye. I cannot post another picture of devastation and destruction so the little girls fit the bill.

They lifted the evacuation orders this afternoon and we went back to see what that means. We went down to the end of the street and it was  more shocking than before.... In fact, I really can't write about it now. There are a lot of trucks cutting down burned once magnificent trees. and hooking up cables and hauling away toxic waste cleared from the burned lots.  It is finally sinking into John how much work there is to be done.

The good news is that once inside, the house seems almost livable except for the smell of smoke and burning.Outside, everything is coated with a layer of ash and soot and burned-who-knows-what . The sign in extras was posted at the bottom of our driveway
The power is on and there is water.
The industrial cleaning company inspector is coming tomorrow to make and assessment of what clean up is needed before we can live there.
The well pump guy is coming to finish what he had started before we were so rudely interrupted.

We're back at Dana' and Jim's until we know whether it is safe to sleep in the house
