A Day In The Life

Bummed

Lots of unexpected excitement near the homestead today. We’re experiencing lots of wind from a cold front that moved through last night. The 40 mph wind gusts tore off the top half of the maple tree across the street this morning knocking out power to an unknown number of households. Normally, and thankfully, this isn’t concerning because we have a generator... but it didn’t kick in. Better to find out there’s a problem on a sunny 50F degree day vs. a 20F degree wintery one • Update: after 2.5 hours the limb has been removed and the electricity is back on! Now we’re waiting to hear from our Electrician • It’s so sad to see the void in the landscape. It’s a beautiful tree and there’s concern the other top half might have to be removed because it’s been weakened. If that happens, it’s likely the whole tree will be cut down. Our neighbors are contacting an arborist just to be sure • It feels like we’ve lost an old friend...
