A Day In The Life

Falling...

In Maine, the foliage is past its peak; leaves are falling; birds, squirrels and chipmunks are scavenging for food for their pantries; wood smoke is in the air; light morning frosts cover the grass, and darken stems and leaves once summer green; the angle of the sun has changed bringing shorter days and longer nights; perennials, like this milkweed, begin shrinking as they turn to crispy brown. We are in the midst of Autumn’s embrace but soon her firm grip will slip away to bare trees and a colorless landscape. I refuse to mention the “w” word which follows, not while enjoying this long hug from Mother Nature • Happy Friday to you!
