Turning away

As today was the day of my big zoom meeting on my book, with speakers in at least three or four countries (and at least two continents), we didn't go anywhere in the car, but stayed around the cottage. We did take a walk first thing this morning down to Port Haunn and back - enough to blow the cobwebs away. This marked the point at which the cows in the field between Haunn cottages and the path down to the sea realised that some food was arriving on a quad bike, and so they were heading rapidly towards the gate in order to form a welcoming committee.

I've added an extra giving a sense of the immensity of the rock scenery at Port Haunn (as well as good cloudage). The weather was pretty good when we went out for our walk, but the predominantly sunny day was punctuated by sharp showers and even a hail storm at one point in mid afternoon. Sadly the weather is not looking good for our last full day here :-(

The zoom seminar went extremely well, and I set down three pages of notes which will be useful as I will soon have to write a response to critics in the context of a review symposium. Before then, I made further progress with the ongoing paper.

And now we are having (another) quiet evening by the fire. I checked our building's online forum earlier on and it appears that the demolition contractors were having a very busy and noisy day. A good week to be away. The quiet, the fresh air, and the change of scene have done us the power of good.
