Huntingford Falls

Another iPhone shot, but the rain was such that I didn't care to carry the camera. Nonetheless, we got a walk in, mostly side by side although Janet took a looooong detour for fear of the cows in one field where it turned out there weren't any. Of course, her detour took her into a field where there were cows... I may have smiled, briefly. I am a bad person.

This is Huntingford Falls, which before flood damage in around 1989 was a weir serving the local mill, behind which was a five foot deep pool often used by wild swimmers and fishermen. After it was toppled by the flood water it was never rebuilt, and now the local kids use it to paddle in. It must have been great to swim here.

The mill dates back to 1606 and has been in more recent years both a restaurant and now a private residence. The shot I took on 30th September is in part of the grounds.
