Air Ambulance

The air ambulance landed in the sports field behind the bungalows opposite me this morning - I hope it wasn't too serious. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Nadal thrash Djokovic in straight sets to win an astonishing 13th French open title and equalling Roger Federer's total of 20 Grand Slams. So good to be able to watch two Grand Slams recently after Wimbledon was cancelled, even with all the Covid precautions and only 1,000 spectators allowed.

Day 210 / Full Day 202 of Lockdown / Day 28 of Rule of Six (for my record only)
UK deaths up 65 to 42,825 (revised basis), with a 12,872 rise in new daily cases, 3,837 patients in hospital and 442 in ventilator beds. UK confirmed cases to date pass 600k. Deaths in Brazil pass 150k. The Deputy CMO warns the country is at 'a tipping point' like in March. A new local lockdown system is expected to be announced tomorrow after there has been criticism of local restrictions being different and difficult to understand. 5 Labour MPs in Greater Manchester have told the PM they won't support the area being put under the harshest restrictions despite very high rates of infections and intensive care capacity in the North forecast to run out this month  - I can't believe they would 'play politics' over something so serious. The SNP MP who travelled on public transport after testing positive is refusing to resign. The tuberculosis vaccine BCG is being trialled on 1,000 people in the UK (part of a wider trial) to see if it helps people fight Covid-19 as initial trials suggest (this has taken a long time as I wrote on 7th April of an initial statistical link showing better outcomes in countries with a mass BCG vaccination programme).
