At Brancaster Beach

This morning we walked along Brancaster Beach to where the river winds its way into the harbour at Brancaster Staithe. It was low tide and the extensive sands of the beach stretched in both directions, textured by the washing of the tides, birds and the many people who enjoyed the air, beauty and wildlife. We spotted one lone seal lounging on a sandbank in the river but the birdlife was plentiful. This afternoon we paid drove to Walsingham, a pilgrimage site for more than 1000 years. The old part of the town is dominated by the ancient religious sites with the shops selling relics. As we drove in we saw a monk in full regalia (hooded habit) getting into a car. Perhaps that influenced our feelings of being in another time and past culture.
