Onwards and upwards....

2118. Bought in Denmark at a second hand market...

I brought this lovely tapestry at a second hand market in Denmark a few  years ago and the lovely lady who sold it to me had made it when she was about 18 years old and she was in her 70’s I think....
It hangs in our bedroom and I look at it every day....I hope she’s still around...her name was Mona and she was a delight...and she was quite bemused by the fact that I intended to hang it in my home all the way over in Scotland.  It’s these sorts of memories that I find I hang on to...the real personal connection between an object and a person whom I may never encounter again.

I am feeling better today having had a bit of a wobble yesterday after meeting up with my youngest who seemed...well just..beaten down....I was beside myself...but he knows that we are here for him...but I know he needs more than that just now.  In some ways it’s good that he’s working over the next couple of days...and long shifts too as at least he has company and in between he’s shattered so he can sleep.  We see him again on Saturday and will hopefully meet up with my eldest step daughter for a socially distanced lunch in a cafe somewhere in town.  I’m avoiding pubs on a Saturday lunchtime and trying a few of the smaller cafes where the tables are spread out a bit.

We’ve had a busy morning again and I finally made a decision about  buying a new portable DVD player...I got it from Curry’s and it’s much smaller than the monster I use at home!  I bought it specifically for travelling (if we ever do that again!) as it’s only 12” and much easier to carry in hand luggage than the 17’ one I had.  I bought a cover for it and it’s just charging...it apparently lasts for 2.5 hours on battery so we will see how it performs....  I like to take box sets away with us to our annual trip to Lanzarote in January...which I think will be cancelled next year but we will go again.....what a year it’s been...a family bereavement...a suicide attempt, an episode of self harm and numerous other dramas...we could be an Eastenders episode....thankfully we are all still here and still trying to get by....stay safe Blipfoto friends and keep each other safe too.....
