To the House of a Friend...

...
...the road is never long.
Here I am at my old friend's house wrestling with this impossible dress pattern sewing and swearing and shouting talking. Finally after several hours trying to make all the pieces fit, and eating another scrumptious lunch made by E., the good friend, we quit at 3p.m. and asked for her hubby to make us whiskey sours earlier than usual.
Ah, that was better... then we critically viewed the back half of the dress which covered the entire dining room table and flowed down both sides to the floor! A monstrous dress for a morbidly obese woman. That's the term in the media nowadays "morbidly obese" . In any case, it would insult the friend who is getting the gift.
So, in our slightly inebriated state (confession" I'd enjoyed a nice beer which went well with the grilled cheese and egg sandwich lunch) we quickly redesigned the skirt by putting away ALL of the many pieces of fabric I'd so industriously cut. Lots of pot holders and place mats to come!
Now, I am off to the town to buy a yard of navy blue for one panel of a reasonably sized skirt. It will go with the pretty blue fabric already in the well-fitting bodice and navy blue polka dot sleeves.
[Perhaps we should have started this three day project by sharing a bottle of wine?]
No, I did not think to take a blip of the monstrous, multicolored, fat gypsy dress bed quilt laying on the and over the table. I was a bit too hysterical at the time. But, this is where the action is taking place in the countryside near Oxford Village.
We will meet once again next week for the finally finished, done with forever, dress. I will take a photo of the final product... promise. Unless another disaster happens.
