An Optimistic Sign!

This cell phone tower, not very cleverly disguised as a tree, presented a hopeful picture today as we passed the AT&T (telephone) substation at the corner of Los Alamos Road and Highway 12. Since the wires melted when the poles holding them up burned, it had to be a positive thing to see a cherry picker hoisting half a dozen men up to the working end (the top) of the ‘tree.’

Further up the road, the platoons of trucks carrying telephone poles and huge spools of cable have reached the entrance to our street. My phone isn’t working any better as a phone but continues to do yeoman’s service with texts, emails and a place to write my blip. And it is looking as if it might be less than two months before this daunting task is finished....

On the insurance side, the frustration mounted this morning when I drive over to Dana’s and was still unable to reach anything but voicemails. After many trips back and forth to Dana’s I finally connected with Biosweep. It was nothing but a sales talk which I had already heard. He did, however, assign me to a scheduler (in Indiana) who called while we were having a much needed appointment with Kathy, answered promptly when I called her back and gave us an appointment for the work to be done tomorrow because there was a cancellation!

In the blink of an eye the situation had pivoted from maddening frustration to the feeling that something had finally worked.

We’re a little unclear about who cleans the house (or how clean it is) after they leave, but at least we won’t be worrying about what we’re breathing...

Our ballots came and we will take them to the drop box at the library tomorrow. The paper this morning said that people are voting early in record numbers this year. This also has to be a good sign....
