Flush

Today we went to Holkham. Finally, fungi everywhere. I'd hoped for Earthstars, but no joy. However, there were huge numbers of spectacularly colourful fruit bodies. There are a good many specialist dune species  and I know very little about them. This one is obviously a wax cap, and there is one called a Dune Waxcap, so this fits the bill. Another fungus which I did recognise was the Sulphur Knight - also known as the Gasworks Fungus, because of its unmistakeable pungent smell (extras).
Bird highlights at the opposite ends of the size spectrum were Great White Egret and Goldcrest.
