Common Enchantments

On the road again

We left Tate's at 8am and traveled to Evansville, Indiana today...a total of 470 miles in 10 hours.   The day started out with a great sunrise at the farm and nice blue skies and sunshine as we traveled into Tennessee (photos of the lake were from there), Virginia (photos of the little house on the prairie and the views looking down in the valley), Kentucky (the tunnel at Cumberland Gap and the rain!).   As soon as we went through that tunnel into Kentucky it started to cloud up and of course it was my turn to drive.  Which was better anyway as Jerry has no patience for driving in the rain.     So it poured rain for about three hours.  We did not stop as we could see on the weather radar that we would be driving out of the rain.   We did but then when we were looking for a place for supper and to fill up the gas tank, the rain came back again with fog!    But we made the goal we had in mind for today.

If you remember back in the summer when we drove to Tate's and had a problem with the truck that a pipe had broken loose on the way and we had to get it repaired.     We noticed today that the gas mileage in the truck was really really good.   We drove the 470 miles on 20 gallons of gas which makes it be about 24 miles per gallon.  We even had almost a half tank remaining when we stopped.   A major difference for sure when we usually got 18 or even 16 on the highway.   We are really waiting to see what happens tomorrow as we will be traveling all the way on the interstate highway without have to stop except for breaks for food and restrooms.     We are thinking it may be even better because today we had to go through towns with stop lights and congestion.

Another thing was the weather forecast has changed for the weekend where we will be staying in Colorado.   Chance of SNOW and temperatures down below freezing with highs only in the 20s.

Did I mention that I have a crazy hunter for a husband?   And that I like cold weather!

PS--we will not be going out until it gets above freezing...not because I said so but because he will not be able to move if it is that cold!

This looks like it will be an interesting trip!

PS again...I may be a little slack on my visits to Blipfoto to leave stars and comments.  But I am looking!   Have a great week!

Another PS...Covid has not stopped other people from traveling either!  We have felt safe everywhere we stopped today.   But many thanks for the safe travel wishes!
