Not how I expected to spend a morning

Last night we took vacuum packed stewing steak out of the freezer to defrost overnight. It leaked. This morning the fridge was awash with blood.

I know the veggies among us will say well, serves you right, and I take the point. But the entire fridge had to be emptied, dismantled and cleaned nevertheless. If there was a joint of any complexity, any seam between metal and plastic into which sanguinary fluids could seep, it got seeped. Any amount of Dettol later all was gleaming, but it wrote off the morning.

And the non-vacuum-packing butcher has a flea in the ear.
