Being a tourist

I made a collage of some of yesterday’s photos because we haven’t stepped out of the van today. The wind is buffeting the van and the rain is lashing., as it has all night, so we have had a relaxing day reading.

The scenery yesterday was wonderful. The left picture is of two Munros at the east end of Glen Shiel. Remembering that climb makes me laugh. We had set off with #2 daughter and friends Carole and Dennis. The weather deteriorated the higher we got. When we reached rather a precipitous outcrop, Carole refused to go any further in case it got worse. She sat down; put her hood over her face and started to sing tunes from Sound of Music. We returned from the summits to find her still singing. She remembers the day well! I too have a fear of heights and scary drops, but worked on the spider aversion therapy - the more often I faced the fear, the less it would become. It did kind of work, but I have to say Mr C is very calm and encouraging. The two Munros do not look at all daunting from below but it’s different up there!

The bottom right is the much photographed Eilean Donan Castle. The car park is now so big two attendants work to sort out the parking.

The top picture is the bridge at Sligachan. There were lots of people out taking pictures. There’s a hotel on the right. In the background in the mist are some Munros - we descended to the pub after doing 3 on our last day of a 6 day trip, Scur Nan Gillean was our second one with the aid of a man with a rope, to get up a chimney, then we headed for Am Bastier which was a bit scary to get off, before the last of the day, Bruach no Frithe. Then it was a scamper down the peaty slippy path to a big Guinness.
