In Praise of Gardeners

We took a spin up to NT Hidcote today. It was a very pleasant day and we took a gentle wander up in Molly Campervan. It had escaped us, even though there was a warning on the ticket web page, but Hidecote has not done well under Covid.

Perhaps nearly all the local gardeners are extremely vulnerable and unable to attend site, but the place was an example of what happens if you don't garden. In fact, it was a lesson well presented, of how much work the National Trust gardeners normally put in to produce their floral spectaculars, and what happens when they don't...

Having spent less than an hour admiring the dead foliage and seedheads we nipped over to Broadway Tower. This has pay and display parking but only takes coins - who has coins any more, or any cash at all? The car park was however very full and unmasked people were thickly milling all around, so in the end we headed back home.

Not a bad day - it was gorgeously sunny - but perhaps some days it's best to stay at home and enjoy the fantastic garden Janet keeps just for us.
