Nonchalantly collecting the tablet

Gosh, we had some heavy downpours today at Tenterden on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. It was my good fortune not to be out collecting the single line tablet or working the gates when the rain was at its worse as can be seen in the extra.

A very enjoyable day with Susan keeping me company in the box and responsible for today’s blip of me collecting the Rolvenden - Tenterden single line tablet from the fireman of 1638, my favourite locomotive. A very young footplate crew in charge today, both well under 30.

Just one train making two round trips as it had been for much of the time since the railway reopened. Plenty of time between trains to sit and enjoy the company and the warmth of the signal box.

Fingers are crossed that we remain in Tier 1 or that there isn’t another national lockdown as Santa Specials are planned to start the last weekend in November and we’ve already sold 70% of the seats.
