Home

We’ve had a lovely few days away, but today it was time to return home.

It was quite a slow journey, but we broke the tedium with a midpoint comfort break and a hot chocolate from Starbucks. Once home the rest of the day vanished in the usual post-holiday come down of washing, shopping and tidying, but we did find time to squeeze in a slightly odd children’s film called Over the Moon before we were rejoined by The Eldest.

As news broke (leaked) late last night of the likelihood of another nationwide lockdown, I was glad that despite some misgivings, we had gone away because it gave us the opportunity to explore castles, run on the beach, have hot chocolate on the beach, throw seaweed on the beach, do some rock pooling, have pillow fights, go swimming every day, visit a cool museum, wander through a lovely city, play on the arcades, exchange tickets for a big pile of sweets and just be somewhere different if only for a short time.

Comfort was taken at the end of the day with a giggle at gogglebox in front of the fire and the knowledge that there is a decent sized stack of logs already in situ to get us through the winter.

I don’t know about you, but I am just about ready to hibernate and only reappear once all this *frantically gestures everywhere* has blown over.
