Bit of a Scare

I went for a drive around nearby Lithgow which, at one point during last year's bushfire emergency, was completely surrounded by flames. Here we can see how close things got. I am in a suburban street at the edge of town. The flames were finally stopped by intensive water bombing and desperate ground action at the base of the hill. Must have been horrendous.

The strange grey stripes were on my windscreen .. through which I shot this. I know it was raining, but you ARE a lazy slob, hobbs. 

Incidentally I am very grateful to everyone who joined the discussion on phones yesterday. You really helped me decide what I shall do. I'll blip the new device when it arrives. What is it? Mmmm. You'll find out.
