The internet signal comes on high speed fibre to a green box at the bottom of this pole. But the for the last few hundred yards it has to travel to individual houses on these old fashioned copper wires.

But looking up at those today it still amazed me to think those thin wires are carrying films, books, radio and tv, emails, American election programmes, games music and much more.

Alexander Graham Bell would have been astonished.
