A view from Jeanneb

Jude is official!

A glorious start to the day, frosted windscreens were passed on our walk to nursery and Eda was thrilled to both see the moon and, as we were slightly later and the sun was higher, be able to wave at her shadow. We also made dragons breath in the cold air. Such exciting things made her completely forget the forest/ jungle long grass route and walking on the wall tops!

Grace had a beautician’s appointment down in town later and I was originally going to look after Jude but as the beautician is a friend she took Grace into a private room so she could have Jude with her.

This gave me an hour to myself on the Harbourside. The weather was stunning and actually warm in the sun. This is the view from Brunel’s Quay, a bit higher up than I have been before though I have been on SS Great Britain which is well worth a visit. You can see it’s huge masts behind the building across the water which are also reflected in the harbour. To the left above the quay are the iconic Bristol coloured houses, often shown on TV.  I thought this scene and it’s reflections would be good for the theme Wide Wednesday - reflections.

After the appointment we walked into the city so Jude could  be registered. There has been a huge backlog of registrations due to lockdown. The hospitals are not doing them and therefore the Registry Office has struggled to keep up. Grace has a friend who is a Registrar and she offered to register Jude in her lunch break. She insisted on doing Eda three years ago and I was able to go with Grace on that occasion, today of course I wasn’t allowed in so it was another wander, this time around St Nicholas market.

To celebrate this event Grace and I went to nearby San Carlo for a late lunch. They were very accommodating and the food was delicious. Jude was very good too - extra

Lots of people were out eating and there were queues for barbers for last minute hair cuts as lockdown begins tomorrow. I even saw one pub advertising cheap beer for ‘Lockdown Eve’. Heard a lot of fireworks tonight too - people getting there bonfire parties in a day early perhaps.

What strange times. Stay safe everybody.
