Quod oculus meus videt

Sky on Fire

The first day of lockdown Part II.  It was a working day, but I headed out early to pick up some essentials from the supermarket.  I went via the local fields and was rewarded with this sky, which was very welcome.  A bit more in the way of cloud compared with yesterday and in just the right place.

The supermarket was no busier than normal, though I did expect the roads to be a bit quieter.  They weren't!

It was a day answering queries from businesses on whether they'd been caught by the regulations and would have to close.  40 years after first reading Acts and Regulations from Parliament and I still get frustrated at the lack of clarity.  Lots of interpretation going on, probably repeated across multiple other local authorities in England.  One of the great benefits of local authorities is they cover small geographical areas so are close the the communities they serve.  Unfortunately, that very focus on the local means that when consistency is needed across the country, it takes time for it to be achieved, usually by discussions and sharing of information.  When you consider that the lockdown is only due to last 4 weeks by the time that consistency has been achieved, we will be returning to the tiered system of restrictions.
