Celebrate!

I can finally exhale after four years of holding my breath! Our grandchildren of voting age are even more jubilant than we are, for they know that they are the ones who will be ultimately responsible for fixing the mess.

It is hard to understand how anybody could vote for Donald Trump after seeing what a totally flawed human being he is. I think some of them hoped that he would improve their lives. The sad fact is, his promises were designed to be what they wanted to hear but they weren’t able to see that they were empty promises. The only substance behind them was hate, distrust and self-aggrandizement.

We didn’t get the blue wave we had hoped would be more of a mandate for Biden, but perhaps getting rid of Trump will enable us to begin to talk to each other. There were clearly enough Rebublicans who couldn't stomach four more years of his madness but otherwise voted their party ticket. And Democrats need to recognize that compromises must be made. It won’t happen overnight but I have renewed hope that it will eventually happen....

This, however, is my message for today.

Our other news :
We have a new family member. Meet Spike a Springer spaniel who came from Ireland to be trained as a sniffer dog for the police. Frank, the trainer here told us he always goes to pick out each dog personally, but because of Covid restrictions he wasn’t allowed to travel. When Spike arrived it soon became obvious that he couldn’t see out of his left eye. He was retired before he ever became a working dog, and Frank had to find a new home for him. With the help of a neighbor, the home he found is ours...the picture in extras shows that he is ready to go....

Even the fence builders are hard at work finishing our fence so Spike can go outside and explore on his own.

Ozzie remains aloof but vigilant...

A final bit of good news, the check from the insurance company arrived in the mailbox yesterday. It will be a great relief to get it in the bank on Monday.
