Cheers!

A wonderfully full day of socialising, such a privilege.

Had our first meal in the new room, still half workroom, but so lovely to have somewhere more civilised to eat with guests. I did a typical English Sunday roast chicken dinner (with Alentejano starters) and they loved it. Even did a bread and butter pudding for dessert, made with whisky soaked Panettone and raspberries.

And then off to a new neighbour's - French and Polish, with a gorgeous one-year old girl, for drinks and amazing conversation - I only met them yesterday at the market, but feel like friends already.

Gratefuls:
- being with people, meaningful conversation, joy
- that the food all turned out well
- little Mira, we don't have much contact with young kids here, and she's a charmer

The Body, ch10 - On the Move: Bipedalism and Exercise, p203
"Not less than two hours a day should be devoted to exercise and the weather should be little regarded. If the body be feeble, the mind will not be strong."  Thomas Jefferson...
No one knows why we walk. Out of some 250 species of primate, we are the only ones that have elected to get up and move around exclusively on two legs. Some authorities think bipedalism is at least as important a characteristic  of what it is to be human as our high-functioning brain.

Certainly didn't get two hours today! Shame.
