Sourdough and head banging

Another drizzly day today. We walked down to the old Rockfield School before lunch as a mini-market (very mini as it turned out) was being held in the covered shelter opposite - you can just see McCaig's Tower above the roof - and Mrs M wanted to buy some sourdough bread from the bakery table. When we got there the queue stretched up to the top of the playground, so we stood in the rain for quite some time as the socially distancing queue edged and inched forward and downward. We bought a few bakery things and set off back up the hill. That was about it really.

A local resident wrote to me today, wearing my Keep Oban Beautiful hat - I was wearing it, not the local resident - about trees being cut down for an extension to a neighbour's house and how this was the third attempt to cut one particular oak down. The story goes that this piece of land was gifted to the town years ago by a local landowner for amenity purposes, but trying to get information out of the council is very hard. Two further oaks nearby died together one summer a few years ago at - what is the chance of that happening? I was very suspicious at the time. I write and I write and get absolutely nowhere. Banging heads and brick walls come to mind.

Quote of the day:

John McEnroe – “Let me tell you, life is not fun when you're banging your head against a brick wall all the time.”
