Queen Victoria Building (QVB)

Today I had stuff to do in the CBD so I took the opportunity to meet up with friend S. There's a little café/bar on the top floor where we can look out onto the building's structure from the inside.

The QVB was built in the late 19th century. Established as a market, it had a number of uses over the decades but gradually fell into disuse. For some time it was threatened with demolition but it was eventually heritage listed and restored in the 1980s. It's been home to shops, restaurants and an entrance to Town Hall Station ever since. I'm glad it survived.

The photo shows, among other things, an arch opening leading through to the north end of the building. Note the spectacular Christmas tree one would encounter on the way through.

Thanks for hosting Pinkhairedlady. Stay well all.
