Two Roads

Today we drove back into town to walk the same stretch we walked yesterday, on a hunt for the lost sunglasses. We parked at Ruth's and then the three of us walked yesterday's route, without finding the sunglasses. Well, we did our best and Jan ended up with a pair anyway, as you can read about on her blip.
The picture on the left is taken by our rubbish recycling bins, as we drive out towards town. (The tracks coming in from the left are ours.) We live at an altitude of 75 metres.
The picture on the right is part of our walk, just outside town, about 20 metres above sea-level.
That small difference made the difference between snow at home and rain in town. Unfortunately the rain fell on ground that was rather cold, about minus 6°C, so what looks like slush is actually ice! The frozen tyre track, and each frozen footprint was rather slippery. We had to keep our eyes open for icy patches as well as the lost sunglasses. Walking at home, in the snow, was much easier.
