Love amongst the road works

We have spent much of today outdoors, and suffered a couple of soakings for our efforts.

This morning Mr hazelh and I made quick work (for me) of our four mile running route around the cycle paths. It's fun when we see friends along the way. Today it was the turn of ArcLight (who mentions our encounter in her journal)  and alfthomas. We didn't run quite fast enough, however, to avoid the torrential rain that soaked us along the last mile of the route.

After a quick lunch, we walked down to Leith to join Katharine and Jack for an afternoon of birdwatching. This started with another soaking, but soon afterwards the sun reappeared and the weather was fine for our wander around Leith looking for birds. The full list of birds spotted is as follows:

1. Black-headed gull
2. Blue tit
3. Carrion crow
4. Common gull
5. Cormorant
6. Feral pigeon
7. Goldeneye
8. Herring gull
9. House sparrow
10. Magpie
11. Mallard duck
12.. Moorhen
13. Mute swan
14. Oyster catcher
15. Pied wagtail
16. Starling
17. Wood pigeon

Home again I cooked a fish pie for supper, we played Carcassonne (I won), and we watched an episode of The queen's gambit. It's been a good day.

I took the photograph for my blip near the tram works on Leith Walk.

Exercise today: 4 mile run in the morning, plus around 16,000 steps in the afternoon.
