Derelict Sunday: Unhinged

The day started with fog but by mid morning the sun was starting to break through and so Cathy and I grabbed our opportunity and went for what is now (in these covid times) the traditional tramp around the local lanes.  There are plenty of other walkers doing the same thing, so there is much crossing from one side of the lane to the other to avoid each other.

Along the way I came across this gate which has long since come off its hinges.  At one time it was held in place with bailing twine, but even that has give way now, and so it lies, ineffectively on its side.

We had some concerning news last night - the Care Home in which my 89 year old Dad has been incarcerated, safely locked away, living since February has been doing a really good job over the course of the crisis to date.  They have been very cautious and careful, and while this has meant that we have had very limited access to Dad, and that he has been unable to go out, there have been no cases of covid in the home. Dad himself appears well looked after and happy despite the limitations on visiting.

But yesterday I had a call to the effect that their routine weekly tests have picked up the first case within the home.  The poor resident concerned is now in isolation and we face an anxious wait to see whether they caught it in time or whether it has, or will, spread further.  Dad suffers from Parkinsons, so I suspect the prognosis would not be good should he be unlucky enough to contract the virus.

I'm trying to keep myself busy and not think about it as there's nothing I can do except worry.
