A time for everything

Sunny afternoon at Rowe Woods

Monday
After a dull grey start, the sun returned later in the morning, which was a welcome sight. I had quite a productive day, renting a carpet cleaner and cleaning the carpets in our dining room and living room, which involved moving quite a bit of furniture and “stuff”. The carpet is plain and light coloured, so shows marks and heavy traffic areas, for example from the kitchen to the dining room. We will be on our own for Thanksgiving this week, (heeding the recommendation not to travel, which unfortunately is falling on deaf ears for many people), but I still wanted to get it done before then, as once Thanksgiving is over we will start putting the Christmas decorations and tree up. After cleaning the dining room, we went out for a hike at Rowe Woods, giving the carpet chance to dry a bit before we moved the table back, and then moved things from the living room. It was a beautiful afternoon for a walk, cool but sunny, and there were a number of other people out enjoying it too. While I was cleaning the living room carpet, Roger was kind enough to do some grocery shopping for us. The bird in the top right photo, unfortunately some distance away, is the red-headed woodpecker, which is less often seen than the other woodpeckers, and very rarely seen in our garden, and this was the first time I had managed to get a photo of this handsome bird.
