Not Shrove Tuesday

Realised I am not in a routine enough to keep a rigorous daily diary so instead will use this to dump down ideas and recipes that may or may not be working.

Overall we seem to be getting a handle on this latest flare up which is no doubt helped by the diet. And also by finding a substitute for the mast cell stabiliser medication (Nalcrom) that is currently out of production.

Diet wise one of the things that is probably helping is pretty much only eating 3 times a day. The fewer times the digestive process has to kick in the less histamine is released, the less inflammation there is and generally the system gets a break.

Pancakes are a popular breakfast choice and, as we are not doing gluten, can be basically made to our usual recipe. I do substitute in M&S coconut drink for milk as the taste isn’t affected and avoiding dairy when possible seems sensible. Though most dairy is off the menu anyway as almost all cheese and all yoghurt is high in histamine.

No yeast bread continues to be a good staple and the last two days has featured as mini breadsticks perfect for dipping into runny eggs. Later it will make an appearance with oregano and flax seed and made into pizza based with no the no cheese cheese we love despite it blowing our minds how a coconut based substitute can taste like actual cheese.
