The long winding road

We liked the rooms and layout of the house viewed today. Good space for Doreen on the ground floor with an adjacent cloakroom. However, three big drawbacks; a huge oak which would shade the whole garden, the sitting room was quite dark and despite being on a cul-de-sac we could hear traffic noise on the main road.

Anyway, we were heartened that we’d taken the first steps that there the were other properties to see and that we liked Tenterden as a place to live and, of course, it’s near the railway.

After the viewing we called in at a local bakery for coffee, scones and cheese rolls to sustain ourselves on a walk to Rolvenden Layne and back along a section of the High Weald Landscape Trail which gave, as the name suggests, gave superb views of this wonderful lansdscape despite the dull, drizzly weather. The extra is of a magnificent tree near where we sat on a stile to eat the cheesy rolls.

It was ukulele jam tonight which was great fun and very entertaining. Not before loaning Doreen our Echo Dot to remind her to take painkillers regularly. We’ve set up alarms at 4 hour intervals which are followed by a reminder saying “remember to take your painkillers”. We’ll see how that works.
