Just Desserts: Strawberry Cheesecake

We have gotten plenty of take-out in the past nine months, but we have done very little dining in at restaurants. However, since it was my birthday week, I wanted to eat in. I had a hankering for fettuccine alfredo, and there was only one place I wanted it from: the Olive Garden!

I checked the State College menu online and they were running the $5 take-along special. So I could order one fettuccine to eat at lunchtime, and one $5 take-along version chilled and packed up for later. It's a good deal. Oh, and did you know that if you are there celebrating a birthday, the dessert is free? Yeah, what a great idea!

So we went very, very early, arriving at 11 a.m., just as they opened, and got a booth in a faraway, quiet corner. My husband had the lunch portion of spaghetti with meat sauce, and I had the lunch portion of fettuccine. He had soup and I had salad. We both had breadsticks. Into my bag for later went the $5 take-along fettuccine, and the (free) cheesecake!

Later in the evening, when we were feeling snacky, I got out the cheesecake (from the menu description: ricotta cheesecake with a shortbread cookie crust, topped with seasonal strawberry sauce) and divided it into two - that's my half above.

Then I sliced up some bright red strawberries we had - conveniently - just bought at the grocery store on this same day. We moaned and drooled as we ate that sweet treat. It was very lovely indeed!

The soundtrack song has to be this one: Air Supply, with Sweet Dreams.
