Full on

I was awakened abruptly at about 04:45 GMT by what sounded like a violent explosion - it certainly set off several car alarms outside. Apparently it was 'thundersnow' - what evs, all it did in Leith was rain heavily all day. I made a mercy dash up to Elm Row for coffee supplies and khorasan bread, ahead of the archaeologist's return. During the evening I was keeping an eye on his train journey (hoping for no landslips on the line north of Berwick) and also local Twitterings and F-Bookings about the Water of Leith getting somewhat full and doing some flooding here and there. So went down to the Shore to have a look - it was indeed very full, muddy and lively, but not overflowing. Best thing was the no 22 bus which I knew contained Mr H coming home from Waverley station.

We went home for a dram and a hug (or three).
